The Sunday Salon (13)

Edition #13 of the Sunday Salon.  Remember that if you want to become a participant, log onto Facebook.com and join the group!

I hope that everyone is having a fabulous and SAFE 4th of July weekend!  I haven't really done any parties or cookouts or anything, seeing as if I haven't been at home, doing things, I've been working.  Hopefully our neighborhood will have excellent fireworks and I won't regret not going anywhere.

Well, on the reading front, I've offically finished the Harry Potter series.  It was phenomenal, I loved it and I'm a tad bit sad that its over.  But, all good things must come to an end I guess?  Anyway, I've gotten the first movie from Netflix, which I plan on watching tonight.
But, Harry Potter has kind of opened up my love for young adult and children's fiction.  I was going to start another series, like The Dark Tower series, but I keep thinking of The Chronicles of Narnia.  They were always some of my favorite books as a child.  I think I've read the series at least 3 times, but its been years since I've read them, so I think I might delve into those next.  They might be a reread, but I could read them a million times and be perfectly okay with that.

One another note, I realized the other day just how much reading calms me down.  I was absolutely raging the other day, it was actually sort of scary how angry I was (for reasons that I won't go into).  So, I went and got my book, and fell in.  By the time that I was finished, I looked up, hadn't realized how long it had been and I was so much more relaxed.  It was amazing.  I felt so much better and I had finished a book.  So I think that's going to be my biggest stress reliever now.  Its productive and relaxing.

On the blog front, I'm sad, but I deleted my IntenseDebate comment widget.  It kept eating my comments.  I would get emails, but they wouldn't show up on the blog.  But its sad, because now the comments that I have will be lost.  But, I guess that's what I get.  I just wish Blogger would change their commenting system.  I want to be able to reply to people, strike up conversation and such.  You can't do that with the current system. :[

That's all for this week.  As always, have a fantastic week, and happy reading! <3

I know what you mean about Blogger comments. I know that some blogs have the option to be notified when someone else comments, but it's not really following replies so much as following all the comments. Plus, I usually forget to tick the box. LOL

I'm hoping that this is something that they change soon. I know that this is a big complaint from a big majority of the Blogger users. You'd think they would have listened before now!

First, I'm sorry to hear about your Blogger comments. I tried Disqus for a while when I had a Blogger blog and it didn't work for me either. I've seen IntenseDebate on others and don't have a problem with it myself, but managing it might be a different story. As for your reading, I just finished the Harry Potter series earlier this year and can't thinking to myself, "Why did I wait this long?" I've already watched all the movies now, thanks to the library where I work, and now I'm geared up to watch the final movie here in a couple of weeks. I can't wait, our town theater is having a midnight showing. My wife, a few friends and I are going. It ought to be fun. I'll definitely report on the blog about it.

I have read The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe a number of times but have never gotten around to reading the entire series. I thought maybe this year I would but I think that's slipping away. Maybe next year!
