About Me

Thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog! My name’s Samantha Leighanne. I’m 23, a recent college graduate from the University of South Carolina, with a degree in business management. A lot of book bloggers I see are either writers themselves or are in education, or library science, English degrees maybe, but I guess I’m an exception to that. I was raised in a small town, where I still live. There’s not a whole lot to do, but that means I’ve had a lot of time to read! I started this blog in an effort to keep track of the things that I had read and what I thought of them and over the past year, you can see that it has evolved into what it is today. Running this blog feels like a lot of work sometimes, but it is something that I truly love doing.

A little more about me: I’m an only daughter, the oldest child of two. I love my family, most of the time. I’m an alumnae of the national service sorority Omega Phi Alpha. I’m working on getting my certificate as a professional in human resources so that I can actually get into the field. Currently, I work at Old Navy as a merchandising specialist and I have for the past 4 years. I love the people that I work with and its actually a fun place to work. I have the most amazing love that anyone could ever hope to have and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with him.

Other things that I love: music, going to concerts, my cats, photography, sleep, the smell of old books, the sound of thunderstorms, my Nook, horror films, coffee (hot or iced), planners, anything giraffe, school supplies in general, books (like you didn’t guess that), a good glass of wine, the smell of lavender and vanilla, and a plethora of other things to compare your own likes to.

Things about me, as a reader: Stephen King is probably my favorite author. I love horror. Horror books, films, everything. Suspense, thrillers, and mysteries are also favorites of mine. Lately, I’ve been reading more and more young adult, and I like what I’ve been reading. Fantasy and science fiction are also genres that I tend to enjoy. Don’t ever ask me to read a pure romance novel, I won’t do it. Christian fiction is also not something I’m really interested in, or biographies, autobiographies, and things of that nature. Pretty much anything else is fair game, but my go-to genre will always be horror. I read multiple books at one time, which is something a lot of people don’t do. Recently, I started reading a few different comics and graphic novels. Once I start a book, I feel like I should finish it. There are only a handful of books that I haven’t finished. Reading is one of the things that calms me. If I am ever upset of angry, when I start reading I forget it all, and when the problem has to be addressed later, I can look at it with a new perspective. And that’s one of the main reasons that I love reading.
